Atom Identity Optimization in Molecular Frameworks

Atom Identity Optimization in Molecular Frameworks

As part of the Digital Chemistry Laboratory at ETH Zurich, I worked on finding atom identities in molecular frameworks, that optimize a target property, e.g. the HOMO-LUMO Gap, using Mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) and semidefinite programming (SDP).

ReactionChamber

I spent a good deal of my childhood and adolescence in our garage, where I built a home laboratory. Collecting chemicals, synthesizing compounds, and blowing stuff up was my passion. Later I started uploading videos of my experiments to YouTube.

Chemical precipitation in a drop of water

While I discontinued the channel, I recently did some chemical precipitation reactions in a drop of water. The idea was first popularized by a Chinese TikTok (Douyin) channel 难晴雨. I tried to recreate the experiments and am pretty happy with the results. I'm pretty surprised with the traction the videos got - just in two weeks, both hit 10M+ views. Watch them here.

Some infographics I created for my discontinued Instagram, as part of ReactionChamber:

Squeeze

Squeeze

In a team of 4, we built a microfluidic device that exploits viscoelastic fluids to squeeze cells, allowing it to be used for transfection. Simulated and optimized the device using COMSOL. Final report can be found here.
